Microsoft filled a patent application of an adaptive multi touch keyboard. The keyboard, as the patent claims, adjusts its layout according to a user’s hand position.

Compare it with Apple’s virtual keyboard patent for iPhone.
Operation of a computer with touch screen interface -
Roughly speaking, Microsoft’s keyboard is suitable for large multi touch displays while that of Apple is good for mobile devices.
